Watch Your Language

Installation: Wood cabinet, photo text transparency, plaster, video monitor

Exhibited at Gallery 76, Toronto, 1987

Watch your language takes its inspiration from early ideas of interactive video games; however the context or narrative is that of an unwanted pregnancy.  The players or listeners are indicated by the gendered hands, and the text reflects each other’s voice. Images of Victorian architectural detail are reflected in the mediating video.
